let me try using these with matcap shaders. With any luck it will give partially drawn effect...Ok let's see. 
First. Matcap shaders are technique used for robust shading, and achieved by calculating all of the light on model by drawn sphere. Obvious drawback is that from every angle model will have relatively same lighting like you hold lights exactly like on drawn segment. But there is an upside - for cartoony environments - that's a huge boon

Have you tried glazed and just plain-fired ceramics? Those can be really interesting to try and replicate.
